Wednesday: meeting UNE

Last day of the Guatemalan youth mission

We had only little time today, before catching our plane. We rushed over to a beautiful national palace, where we met the governing party and its young members, the UNE, in the national palace.

They focus on alternative means of communication so we shared our view on campaigning, and other ways to involve youngsters in politics. We put emphasis on the fact that politics should be ‘fun’ for young people, and gave them examples, by showing videos and campaigns we did in the past.

It was a short meeting, but a very interesting one. It was our last meeting before rushing over to the airport.

It was such a shame we had to leave already. It was a very interesting experience, and we are glad we had the opportunity to share our experience with the Guatemalan youth.

This was the last blog on the Guatemalan youth mission, by Zita Schellekens (JS) and Floris Kreiken (JD). An extensive report will follow soon. For more information, please contact Jeroen Mimpen, jeroenmimpen@nimd.org.
