Off to Alta Vera Paz

To the Highlands...

On Monday we headed off to Coban, in the department of ‘Alta Vera Paz.' There NIMD and the Forum try to increase youth participation in politics as well.

After a 5 hour trip we arrived in the highlands, which wasn't anything like Guatemala city. The forum had organized a political café there, to see if it was possible to stimulate youngsters in the region as well. There was a great atmosphere, we gave another presentation, and the forum as well. Afterwards we sat together in working groups, to talk about how youth participation can contribute to a better country. It was fun to watch how the different youngsters started talking mainly about their own parties at first but slowly moved to a more multiparty look on bigger problems. We presented our conclusions to each other, and made an agreement that everybody would meet soon again. It ended at 20.00.
